I was wondering if anyone else was trying to raise their kids without spanking...and if you are or know anyone who is, do you know of a good book on alternative punishments that actually work? It's just hard to tell what books are good or 'not worth reading' from browsing at a bookstore ya know?

This weekend, September 3rd and 4th! Baby items, kids clothes, maternity clothes, mens and womens clothes, designer and name brand items, loads of toys, bedding, household items, power tools, plants, furniture, and a lot more. Best of all, it's air conditioned! Come cool off and shop!

hey everyone! :)
Part of the point of this community is having get togethers right? Well it looks like there's a few of us now, (plus I know of at least one friend who doesn't play around on livejournal but that does take care of two kids mostly by herself) so why don't we start planning something? My husband and I pretty much have Sunday free, plus we can have Saturday free if given a week or so of notice (because my husband works a lot of Saturdays) We could do something at my place, it's an apartment though so if someone has a house and wants to have a get together I won't get my feelings hurt lol
I was thinking maybe some sort of barbque or something where we each brought a dish... something lol
So anyway how about if everyone comments on this thread about free times and suggestions and whatever else you can think of...or the moderator could start her own thread he he...come on I know ya'll want some social time! :)

I normally check this site every couple of months...when I checked it this time I noticed there are 28 child molestors (6 are predators) less than one mile from my home in Riverside. This just makes me sick.
One mile is easy walking distance...and to make matters worse...I am a stones throw from a school and a childrens park. I thought child molestors couldn't live near elementary schools?
You may want to check this out....http://www3.fdle.state.fl.us/sexual_predators/neighborhood/proximity_search.asp
Hi my name is Kate I am 27. I have a 5 month old little boy and we live in Orange Park. I am a teacher in Clay County, but really wish to be a SAHM. I am looking forward to meeting more people with children. I have lived here since I was three and I have had a ton of experience lately with the pedi. docs of Wolfson and Nemours. Which for a parent really sucks but everything is getting better.

Hello everyone, my name is Joy and I'm 25 years old. I have a five year old daughter and I'm a whopping 38 weeks pregnant. Needless to say I'm down with any indoor activities for the next few weeks. I live in Riverside and I'm a full time stay at home mom, and I will be working from home within the next 3 months (hopefully). It is hard to meet other parents, but it should be easier now as Florida is going through a massive baby boom (thank you hurricanes). So, not much else to say but happy parenting.

I'm Catie and 21 and expecting. I don't really know many people, especially those of the female persuasion in jax and would love to meet some, esp. mommies. That's about it for now :)
I'm Amber and I'm married with a 14 month old little boy...he will actually be 15 months old on the 26th of June. My husband, Chris, is 26 and I'm 23. I quit working for awhile when I had my little marshmellow puff, otherwise known as Jeremy :) I became very isolated during that period, seems like people without kids have no patience for those that do (when it comes to social activities and such) Anyway, now that he's a little older I've gone back to work part time, and am attending Florida Technical College where I'm studying CADD. I've also been trying to "un-isolate" myself, actually I'm doing allright with that but the more friends the merrier! Especially since I can plan to bring Jeremy when I hang out with you guys, instead of worrying about whether or not anybody will be willing to watch him at the specific time I want to go out...lol seems like nobody is free when you have somehwere *fun* to go!
But anyway I'm looking forward to seeing where this community will go, heck, we can even start planning the first get together right now :) Current Mood: cheerful

Hello and welcome
This is a community for Jacksonville parents who are interested in socializing with like-minded individuals. Hopefully through this community parents can share ideas, and we can plan monthly bar-b-ques to get to know everyone. Anything parent/child related is welcome here...from advice, suggestions, babysitting co-ops etc.
